Knowing what you are signing up for

If you have only ever seen whitening in adverts, the actual process can feel a bit mysterious. So before we talk shades and trays, here is the plain version for Chipstead patients: a short check, a quick mould of your teeth, then a fortnight or so of easy home whitening. No surprises, no jargon.

We use clinical systems including Enlighten, Boutique and White Dental Beauty, all designed for safe, supervised use. The point of walking you through it now is simple. The more you understand each stage, the more relaxed and predictable the result feels.

From first appointment to bright smile

The consultation

Your first visit is free and largely a conversation. We confirm your teeth and gums are healthy enough to whiten, listen to the shade you are hoping for, and point out anything that might affect the outcome, such as existing crowns or fillings that keep their original colour. We then agree which system fits you best.

Your bespoke trays

Next we take a scan or impressions of your teeth so a dental lab can build trays moulded exactly to your mouth. This is the step boxed kits skip, and it is precisely why they underwhelm. A tray made for you holds the gel snugly against every tooth and away from the gums, giving an even, comfortable result.

Whitening from your own sofa

Once your trays are ready, the work happens at home. You wear them with a measured amount of professional gel, either for a short daytime session or overnight, depending on the system. Boutique, for instance, offers a one-hour daytime wear or an overnight option. Most people notice change within the first several days and finish the course over two to three weeks.

The result and looking after it

At the end you reach your new shade, and we hand over straightforward aftercare. For around 24 hours after each session, steer clear of coffee, tea and red wine while the enamel settles, then carry on as usual. Keep your trays for occasional top-ups so the brightness holds, and we are only a short drive away if you have any questions along the way.

Why a guided process matters

Whitening done blind, with a generic kit and no oversight, is where things go wrong: uneven colour, sore gums, disappointing fade. Having a dentist set the gel strength, check the fit and manage any sensitivity turns it into a predictable, comfortable treatment. Whitening from around £380 indicative, with flexible payment options if you would prefer to spread the cost.

Frequently asked questions

  • What happens at the first whitening visit for a Chipstead patient?

We check your teeth and gums are suitable, discuss the shade you want and recommend the right system, all at no cost.

  • How long does the whole journey take?

Allow a short wait while your custom trays are made, then two to three weeks of home whitening to reach your result.

  • Do I whiten in the chair or at home?

You whiten at home in your custom trays, which is comfortable and flexible, while we guide the process from start to finish.

  • What if I have crowns or fillings on show?

Whitening only changes natural enamel, so we flag any visible crowns or fillings at the consultation and plan the result around them.

  • How do I reach you from Chipstead?

You are a short drive east towards Purley, roughly 10 to 12 minutes from the Chipstead valley, with free on-street parking on Foxley Lane.
