Knowing exactly what you are signing up for

If you live in Woldingham and bonding is on your mind but the process feels a bit of an unknown, this page is for you. Knowing what happens at each stage tends to settle the nerves, so here is the whole journey laid out clearly before you commit to anything.

Woldingham is a quiet spot up on the North Downs, and the drive over to Purley is an easy one, with Woldingham station handy if you would rather let the train take the strain part of the way. When you reach our Foxley Lane practice there is free parking right outside, so the trip ends without a fuss.

Here is how your bonding unfolds with us, step by step.

Your bonding journey, stage by stage

Stage one, the free consultation. We look at your teeth and listen to what is actually bothering you, whether that is a chip, a gap or an edge that has worn unevenly. You get an honest view of what bonding can and cannot achieve, plus a clear idea of cost, with no pressure to proceed.

Stage two, preparing the tooth. On treatment day we gently clean and condition the tooth surface so the resin grips well. There is no heavy drilling, which is exactly why the procedure is comfortable and usually needs no injection.

Stage three, building the resin. We apply the tooth-coloured composite in thin layers, sculpting it by hand to the right shape and hardening each layer with a curing light. This is the craftsmanship, building the tooth so it looks like it always grew that way.

Stage four, finishing and polishing. We refine the shape, smooth the surface and polish it to a natural shine so it catches the light just like your own enamel.

Stage five, checking the bite. We see how your teeth come together and make small adjustments so the new bonding feels comfortable and does not get in the way when you chew.

Stage six, aftercare. Before you head off, we run through how to keep it looking its best, the simple cleaning habits and the staining drinks worth easing up on.

How long the whole thing takes

Most smiles are completed across two to three appointments over a few weeks, with each tooth taking around one to two hours of careful work. You stay with the same dentist the entire way, so the plan you agree at the start is the plan that gets delivered.
